- Arcana – Skill at using magic.
- Arcana is the skill of using magic, the occult and the esoteric to cast spells, converse with creatures of the outer realms, harness the power of the ley lines and hop dimensions.
- To use Arcana you must have an aspect defining your nature as a mage or mystic and a gateway stunt for the school of magic you are skilled in.
- Overcome: You can use Arcana to remove obstacles that require the manipulation of mystic energies, deal with rifts, bind demons, locate lost things and otherwise use magic to solve problems.
- Create an Advantage: Arcana can create advantages related to the gateway stunt defining the type of magic that you cast. An elemental mage might be able to create advantages like ‘gusty winds’ or ‘raging inferno’ while a dimensional shifter might instead create ‘sucking portal to a hell realm’.
- Attack: Arcana can make mental or physical attacks depending on the nature the magic in use. Attacks that are charged with magic but governed by other skills – such as a wand shooting fireballs or fists charged with mystical energies – are rolled using the relevant skills.
- Defend: Arcana is used to utilize mystical defenses. Mental defenses are governed by Will as usual.
- Survive – Skill at surviving in low resource environments, general outdoorsmanship.
- Survive is the skill used to stay alive in environments disconnected from easy food, clean water or readily available shelter. It is also the skill used to navigate difficult terrain, avoid getting lost and mitigate environmental hazards.
- Overcome: Survive can be used to overcome any situation related to being in a place disconnected from the infrastructure of civilized life – whatever that happens to be in the area.
